Holiday Post #1
So seeing as it is now the holidays, you might see my posts take a little bit of a different turn... Over the last (little under) a week I've actually had time to window shop online, dream, drool etc. I had a bit of a jewelry stalk the other day, and this is what I found... Happy drooling!

La Forme
After three coffees & a diet coke, little sleep & lack of motivation/inspiration, I have had a moment of brilliance (thanks to the heater & Ashantis 2002 album). I am sitting on my living room floor, the night before my last day of semester, my Transformation Piece Presentation, and my Lighting Presentation. Going back and reading the briefs (very good idea to read the actual brief with less than 12 hours until it's due), and have re-remembered that I have not yet named my creation. I say re-remembered because I remember and forget constantly. Can you tell I'm tired?
So seeing as conceptually my chair was developed from the words malleable, extension and shape, the French word for Shape sprung to mind. So there you have it kids; my Transformational Piece is no longer just "My Chair". It's La Forme. (I'm listening to Google Translation pronounce it. What a pretty accent she has. Fake it 'till you make it!)
This is probably a good time to say "Thanks David, Mum & Dad". The driving, the gluing, the brain de-fuzzing, the fund providing... Couldn't have done it without you! Now to finish off this entirely corny post, let's get some pretty inspirational pictures for you...
And my fave.
I promise I won't post any more of these for awhile. Forgive me.

Todays Mantra/A Whole Bunch of Wisdom
This one just makes me go "oooh..." A small insight into someone's life, right near my college. Photo taken by Lauren Brown.

Transformational Piece
For one of my classes at college at the moment, we had to find a piece of furniture and turn it into something else. Thought I'd share with you my chair that I am very proud of!
I started off with this very unimpressive little wrought iron table.

At first I wanted to extend the wrought iron and create a sculptural chair back for it but then with the help of a dear friend of mine, perspex was brought to my attention! I then started playing with different designs, sketching them up and then putting them into CAD (seriously one of the hardest things I've ever been faced with).
I sent it off to the kind people at Allplastics and then looked into having an upholstered cushion made. After collecting that from the fabulous Jack at The Couch that Jack Built, I held my breath and waited for the perspex to be cut... a terrifying wait! Luckily, it turned out just as it had in my head; can't remember ever having such a feeling of relief!
Now, drum roll, I present to you... the final piece! I've just designed a wallpaper which I will have printed onto fabric to then cover the cushion at a later date.
Enjoy!

NB perspex is very hard to photograph outside of a photography studio...

More decay...
I was watching the Kings Speech after work last night (well I watched the first half hour then fell asleep... not because I was bored!)and I couldn't help but drool over Lionels (Geoffrey Rush) study/office. It was absolutely stunning; the wall was to die for. I wish it was the wall in my bedroom... or whole house! If you love decay as much as I do, you'll sit here for the next five minutes with your jaw on the floor. You can thank me later!

D E C A Y
There's just something about decay that gets me going... Although I hate dirt and grime in everyday circumstances, there is something about a dirty, old, peeling wall that is so mysterious. There are layers and colours and textures; what more could a girl want? Now just because I love to look at decay, doesn't mean I like to touch it... that part is gross. Now go on and enjoy the deterioration before you!
